Publish a book with AMA Press
An original monograph, an edited volume or a contribution to one of our book series.
From proposal to book
AMA Press publishes monographs, illustrated essays and edited volumes. For an initial editorial assessment, please prepare a working title, a summary, a proposed table of contents, details of the authors and editors, an estimated length and a publication timetable.
Explain the scholarly question, the readership and the book’s contribution to existing literature. Proposals for edited volumes should identify the planned chapters and their contributors.
Prepare your materials
- A proposal and contents list with a representative sample chapter.
- Short biographies, institutional affiliations and existing ORCID identifiers.
- Declarations of prior publication, funding and potential conflicts of interest.
- An inventory of figures, tables and other third-party material, with permissions.
- For patient-related material: evidence of required consent and anonymisation.

Editorial assessment
After assessing the scope and completeness of the proposal, the press will agree responsibilities, review arrangements, rights, licensing and any costs in writing before acceptance. A proposal does not guarantee publication. A work will be described as peer reviewed only after the documented review process has actually been completed.
